Saw this come across my twitter feed today:<\/p>\n

Wiggins may be amazing, but he hasn’t won anything yet.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I dig the throwback socks, but I am worried the powers that be at Sports Illustrated are putting a little too much pressure on a kid who hasn’t even taken his first elbow in a Big 12 game.<\/p>\n

I understand that the current culture of sports requires we\u00a0anoint\u00a0the next big thing every single day, and let results be damned, but this is my team their messing with, and I prefer it when we fly under the radar just a little bit. (You know, ranked in the top ten, but not the top five at the start of the season, so we have something to aspire too.)<\/p>\n

Overall, it has been odd not waiting for the college basketball season to start. With the Royals being competitive into late September and the Chiefs somehow standing at 5-0, I don’t need that cathartic beat-down of Whatever Directional State College in quite the same way I usually do.<\/p>\n

At any rate, seeing this did give me a reason to look up my all-time favorite Sports Illustrated cover.<\/p>\n
