Dutton actually does a reasonable job of reporting this year’s payroll for the Royals. He mentions the 24% cut from last year’s salaries, but also references the large number of players who haven’t hit arbitration yet.
David Glass chimed in with this gem: “It isn’t just about payroll. We had the biggest payroll in our history last season and lost 104 games.”
Let’s hope this group can show a little something this year and that Baird is right about having the leeway to keep them together.
